Drug Interaction: Hypermagnesaemia may develop in patients on chronic renal dialysis.
Mechanism of Action: It promotes calcium absorption in the intestines and retention at the kidneys thus increasing serum calcium levels. It also increases renal tubule phosphate resorption consequently decreasing serum phosphatase levels, PTH levels and bone resorption.

Impact During Lactation: There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.
Drug Interaction: Zinc sulphate is known to interact with other drugs like heparin (Na) and heparin (Cl), ichthammol, iron salts, norfloxacin, penicillamine, sodium calciumedetate, tetracycline (HCl).
