Coscodin Syrup 100Ml contains following Salts:-

Typical usage: :For the treatment of rhinitis, urticaria, allergy, common cold, asthma and hay fever.
Probable Side Effects: :Blurred vision, dry eyes, mydriasis, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, dizziness, psychomotor impairment, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances.
Drug Interaction: Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Anticholinergic effects of chlorphenamine (e.g. dry mouth, blurred vision) may be enhanced by drugs with anticholinergic effects such as antipsychotics, MAOI or tricyclic antidepressants. Chlorphenamine inhibits phenytoin metabolism and can lead to phenytoin toxicity.
Mechanism of Action: Chlorphenamine is an H1-receptor antagonist which competetively blocks H1-receptor sites on tissues.
Pregnancy Impact: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
Impact During Lactation: There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.
Codeine Phosphate - Drug Information
Typical usage: :Mild to moderate pain, acute diarrhoea, cough suppressant, Mild to moderate pain
Probable Side Effects: :Dependence, withdrawal symptoms; nausea, vomiting, constipation; drowsiness, confusion; difficulty in micturition, ureteric or biliary spasms, urinary retention; dry mouth, dizziness, sweating, facial flushing, headache, vertigo, bradycardia, tachycardia, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, hypothermia, restlessness, mood changes, decreased libido or potency, hallucination, miosis; raised intracranial pressure, muscle rigidity.
Drug Interaction: Enhanced depressant effects with alcohol, anaesthetics, anxiolytics, hypnotics, TCAs, antipsychotics. Possible CNS depression or excitation with MAOIs. May alter effects of other compounds e.g. cyclizine, mexiletine, cisapride, metoclopramide and domperidone.
Mechanism of Action: Codeine phosphate provides relief by blocking the ascending pain pathways by binding to opiate receptors found in the CNS. It also helps suppress cough by direct action in the medulla.
Pregnancy Impact: There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Impact During Lactation: There is positive evidence of risk to a breastfed infant or to breastmilk production, but the benefits of use in breastfeeding mothers may be acceptable despite the risk to the infant (e.g. if the drug is needed in a life-threatening situation or for a serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective).
