Kofarest Plus Syrup 100Ml contains following Salts:-
Guaiphenesin - Drug Information
Typical usage: :Dry cough, prevention and treatment of haemorrhage due to incomplete abortion.
Probable Side Effects: :Dizziness, headache, rashes, nausea and vomiting, stomach upset.
Drug Interaction: Guaifenesin is known to interact with other drugs like sodium acetate. These interactions are sometimes beneficial and sometimes may pose threats to life. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Mechanism of Action: Guaifenesin may act as an irritant to gastric vagal receptors, and recruit efferent parasympathetic reflexes that cause glandular exocytosis of a less viscous mucus mixture. Cough may be provoked. This combination may flush tenacious, congealed mucopurulent material from obstructed small airways and lead to a temporary improvement in dyspnea or the work of breathing.
Pregnancy Impact: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Impact During Lactation: Studies in breastfeeding mothers have demonstrated that there is significant and documented risk to the infant based on human experience, or it is a medication that has a high risk of causing significant damage to an infant. The risk of using the drug in breastfeeding women clearly outweighs any possible benefit from breastfeeding. The drug is contraindicated in women who are breastfeeding an infant.
Levocetrizine - Drug Information
Typical usage: :allergic conditions, such as hay fever, urticaria
Probable Side Effects: :Drowsiness, confusion, sleep disturbance, depression, bronchospasm, blood dyscrasias, convulsions, angioedema, liver dysfunction, incidence of sedation.
Drug Interaction: Levocetirizine is known to interact with other drugs like alcohol and other CNS depressants. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Mechanism of Action: Levocetirizine is the R enantiomer of cetirizine hydrochloride, a racemic compound with antihistaminic properties. It is an orally active and selective H1-receptor antagonist and block the symptoms commonly seen in allergic reactions.
Pregnancy Impact: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
Impact During Lactation: There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.
