Lansoprazole - Drug Information

Drug Interaction: Lansoprazole is known to interact with other drugs like antacids, sucralfate, atazanavir, itraconazole and ketoconazole, cilostazol. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Mechanism of Action: Lansoprazole is a gastric proton pump inhibitor. It inhibits the final stage of gastric acid formation by inhibiting the activity of H+/K+ ATPase of the parietal cells in the stomach.
Pregnancy Impact: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
Impact During Lactation: Studies in breastfeeding mothers have demonstrated that there is significant and documented risk to the infant based on human experience, or it is a medication that has a high risk of causing significant damage to an infant. The risk of using the drug in breastfeeding women clearly outweighs any possible benefit from breastfeeding. The drug is contraindicated in women who are breastfeeding an infant.
Tinidazole - Drug Information
Typical usage: :Abdominal surgery prophylaxis, acute leukemia, amoebiasis, anaerobic infections, giardiasis, NSAID-associated ulceration, prophylaxis of acid aspiration in obstetric patients, trichomoniasis, upper gastro-intestinal and breast cancer.
Probable Side Effects: :Hypotension, dyspnea, bronchospasm, facial edema, laryngeal edema, headache, nausea, vomiting, urticaria, thrombophlebitis, metallic taste.
Drug Interaction: Tinidazole is known to interact with other drugs like alcohol. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Mechanism of Action: The nitro group of tinidazole is reduced in Trichomonas by a ferredoxin-mediated electron transport system. The free nitro radical generated as a result of this reduction is believed to be responsible for the antiprotozoal activity. The toxic free radicals covalently bind to DNA, causing DNA damage and leading to cell death.
Pregnancy Impact: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Impact During Lactation: There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.
