Chondroitin - Drug Information
Typical usage: :Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis.
Probable Side Effects: :Nausea.
Drug Interaction: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Mechanism of Action: Chondroitin stimulates the synthesis of proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid, and the decrease in catabolic activity of chondrocytes inhibiting the synthesis of proteolytic enzymes, nitric oxide, and other substances that contribute to damage cartilage matrix and cause death of articular chondrocytes.
Pregnancy Impact: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Impact During Lactation: There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.

Sodium Hyaluronate - Drug Information
Typical usage: :Surgery on the anterior segment of the eye. Topical skin wounds, burns and ulcers caused by venous stasis, varices, phloebitis. Osteoarthritis of the knee.
Probable Side Effects: :Nausea, stomach upset, skin rash, acute toxicity.

Mechanism of Action: This medication is prescribed for skin diseases. It belongs to mucopolysaccharide group. It replaces a substance found in the skin.
Pregnancy Impact: There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Impact During Lactation: Studies in breastfeeding mothers have demonstrated that there is significant and documented risk to the infant based on human experience, or it is a medication that has a high risk of causing significant damage to an infant. The risk of using the drug in breastfeeding women clearly outweighs any possible benefit from breastfeeding. The drug is contraindicated in women who are breastfeeding an infant.
Vitamin C - Drug Information
Typical usage: :Treatment of scurvy. Adjuvent therapy in common cold, asthma, cancer, atherosclerosis. Thalassaemia. Metabolic disorders (tyrosinaemia type III, transient tyrosinaemia of the newborn, glutathione synthase deficiency, Hawkinsinuria).
Probable Side Effects: :Diarrhea, GI disturbances. May cause acidification of the urine.
Drug Interaction: Deferroxamine, hormonal contraceptives, flufenazine, warfarin, elemental iron.
Mechanism of Action: Ascorbic acid is a functional and principal in vivo form of vitamin C, an essential water-soluble vitamin which is fundamental in the synthesis of collagen and intercellular materials.
Pregnancy Impact: Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters).
Impact During Lactation: Drug which has been taken by a large number of breastfeeding mothers without any observed increase in adverse effects in the infant. Controlled studies in breastfeeding women fail to demonstrate a risk to the infant and the possibility of harm to the breastfeeding infant is remote; or the product is not orally bioavailable in an infant.
